Bio
Dr. Boyd is a native of Birmingham, AL. After graduating from Huffman High School, she went on to attend Xavier University of Louisiana graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She obtained her medical degree at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. She then completed her Pediatric Internship and Residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA.
She served as Chief Resident during her final year. Dr. Boyd began her Pediatric career in Mobile, Alabama working in a community health center in an underserved area where she was eventually named Chief of Pediatrics. She then returned home to Birmingham, AL and worked in a private practice before leaving and founding Small Steps Pediatrics, PC. Dr. Boyd’s vision for Small Steps is to provide quality healthcare for ALL children.
Dr. Boyd is a board certified Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of several medical societies and organizations including: American Academy of Pediatrics–AL Chapter, MASA, Jefferson County Medical Society, Mineral District Medical Society and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Boyd has also served on the Board of the Jefferson County Pediatric Medical Society. She won the Best in Minority Business Award for 2014. In 2022 she was named as one of Birmingham Parents Favorite Kids Docs. When Dr. Boyd is not in the office she enjoys travelling the globe and spending quality time with her husband Mark Dennis.
