Dr. Barnes has been setting the highest standards of excellence in dentistry since 1984. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, then went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Science from the University of Illinois.
An esteemed member of the dental community, Dr. Barnes has been appointed to both the State of Illinois Board of Dentistry and the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners. As a member of the State of Illinois Board of Dentistry, she helped to shape policy and maintain professional standards and licensure for all practitioners in the state. She also serves as an Examiner for the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners in such states as Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Maine, among others. Dr. Barnes has also been featured in N'Digo Maga Paper and received awards from the Student National Dental Association as well as the African American Association of Dental Hygienists. Among other honors, Dr. Barnes has been recognized for her excellence in practice by Jim Edgar, former Governor of the State of Illinois, the University of Illinois Urban Health Program, City Colleges of Chicago, the University of Illinois - receiving the "Distinguished Alumni Award," ABC 7 News, WGN News and many other civic organizations.
