Bio
Dr. Burroughs-Ray was born in Oakland, CA and raised in Little Rock, AR with her younger brother. A true California girl at heart, she returned to California to attend Stanford University and completed her undergraduate degree in Human Biology. After college, she worked in the public health field as an Outreach Specialist recruiting and educating participants in the Arkansas Delta in an effort to ameliorate mortality differences in colorectal cancer. Through this experience she affirmed her passion for working in underserved communities.
While in medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Dr. Burroughs-Ray concurrently pursued a Master of Public Health and developed a healthy home curriculum for the Home Instructions for Parents of Preschool Youth program.
Dr. Burroughs-Ray graduated from internal medicine-pediatric residency at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN in 2019 and she was selected to complete an internal medicine administrative chief resident year. During this chief year, she performed a resident wellness needs assessment, developed a resident wellness committee and identified unique opportunities to promote resident wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
