Chike M. Nzerue, M.D., MBA, FASN, FACP is a Professor of Medicine & Chairman of the Internal Medicine department at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, where he leads a department focused on eradicating healthcare disparities by caring for patients and teaching medical students and residents. His research focus is on kidney disease in pregnancy and how substance abuse affects kidney function.
He also leads efforts to improve early detection and treatment of hypertension and kidney disease in underserved communities. He trained in kidney diseases at Emory University in Atlanta and holds an MBA from Oxford University in England.
In addition to his responsibilities as a physician leader, Dr. Nzerue is a published author of 2 books: The Fall of Timbuktu, a novel in 2007; and Architecture of Dust, an anthology of poems, in 2023.
