Angela L. Brown, MD, associate professor of medicine, is recognized for her significant contributions in the St. Louis region and nationally as an advocate for healthy living and addressing health disparities.
In addition to being an outstanding clinician, Brown directs the hypertension section in the Cardiology Division, co-directs the Department of Medicine’s Office of Faculty Development, and holds other important administrative positions at the school. Through her work with the American Heart Association locally and nationally, and with other organizations, she has made major contributions to educating physicians and community members in effective hypertension management, particularly among under-represented populations. That work includes developing national care standards for hypertension treatment in African-American patients, building continuing medical education programs and supporting community outreach. She also has two international research projects in Rwanda.
