Bio
Dr. Angelica Garrett Wood is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Meharry Medical Group. She is also an Associate Professor and serves as the Student Clerkship Director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Meharry Medical College.
Dr. Garrett Wood completed her undergraduate training at Xavier University of LA. She received her master’s degree from Hampton University, VA. She obtained her medical degree at Meharry Medical College. She completed her residency training at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Before joining the faculty at Meharry Medical College, Dr. Garrett Wood previously held a position at Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Largo, MD.
Dr. Garrett Wood is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, has multiple publications including her ACOG Green Journal publication entitled “Use of Computed Tomography in the Diagnosis of Bowel Complications After Gynecologic Surgery.” The majority of Dr. Garrett Wood’s research focuses on outcomes of pregnancy, particularly preeclampsia and uterine rupture in vaginal deliveries after cesarean sections.
Dr. Garrett Wood is a wife and mother to three daughters. When she is not mentoring her students, she enjoys quality time with her family.
