Dr. Lawrence Burns is a podiatrist and Associate Professor at Meharry Medical College’s Department of Family & Community Medicine. He received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Scholl College in Chicago, Illinois. His Surgical Residency program was completed at Lawndale Community Hospital North Philadelphia. Dr. Burns practiced in Chicago and taught at Scholl College of Podiatric College, 1981-1991. Where he taught in the Podiatric Medicine and Orthopedic departments. He also was the first Podiatrist to teach in the Anatomical Science department, lower extremity dissection. He also taught residents at Saint Thomas, Columbus and Cabrini hospitals, as well as a number of Surgical Centers.
Dr. Burns received his Diplomate of American Board of Podiatric Medicine 1987 and was an examiner for the board as well. He is an American Professional Wound Care Association fellow, since 2005. He served on the Illinois State Board of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Burns has three children with his wife of 36 years Veronica. He has one daughter that has his passion for education and teaches at New York College of Dentistry, as an Endodontist.
