Bio
Dr. Shayna Smith attended Xavier University of Louisiana for her undergraduate education and graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in 2005. After medical school, she completed her General Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2011, a job opportunity in the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta emergency department brought her to Atlanta. A few years ago, she decided to work as a primary care pediatrician in the North Fulton area while continuing to serve as a pediatric emergency physician when needed.
Working in different aspects of medicine has also helped Dr. Smith understand that while medication is necessary at times, there may also be other things that could improve health, too. Considering the entire person and their behaviors is critical when determining general wellness practices and condition-specific treatment options. By personalizing her approach to health and medicine, she is able to treat her patients more effectively and also help families develop healthy, sustainable habits over time.
